Parker Ranch Rodeo Arena

The beginnings of Parker Ranch date back to 1809 when John Palmer Parker, a sailor from Massachusetts first landed on the island of Hawaii. Befriended by King Kamehameha, he married a Hawaiian princess and began domesticating the wild cattle and horses that roamed the Big Island’s volcanic slopes. Starting in 1847, he and his descendants amassed the land holdings now known as Parker Ranch.

Today, Parker Ranch is one of the largest cattle ranches in the United States and home of Hawaii’s cowboy – the Paniolo! The Paniolo are a tough hard riding breed who for six generations have worked Parker Ranch, comprised of 150,000 acres, nearly 250 horses and over 30,000 head of cattle. The ranch offers beautiful vistas and incredible locations for an elegant evening or a wild and ruckus rodeo with real Parker Ranch Paniolos!

Want to host a private rodeo for 1000 of your closest friends or business associates? This is the place! The lush rolling hills of Waimea are the backdrop for a real Hawaiian rodeo. The covered stands offer prime viewing of all the action, including: calf ribbon tying, barrel racing, double mugging, bronc riding, flag race, team branding, team roping and more. That is all after the “Pa’u” riders greet you, on horseback, each attired in costumes representing each of the Hawaiian islands. Once the rodeo is finished, the tent is open for the best darn Paniolo cuisine you have ever had! Line dancing instructors will get you in the mood for dancing up a storm!
